Abstract

The average room occupancy rate (TPK) for star and non-star hotels in West Java in a certain period reached 45.88 percent. This figure shows that only about half of the total hotel rooms are occupied by guests. Some important points: ROR for star hotels: 55.32 percent ROR for non-star hotels: 35.74 percent Compared to: National: 48.23 percent Java Island: 51.91 percent Reason: Tourism has not yet recovered: The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is still being felt in the tourism sector, so the number of tourists staying in hotels is still not optimal. Competition between hotels: The increasing number of hotels operating in West Java increases competition between hotels in attracting guests. Hotel room prices are still high: Hotel room prices which are still relatively high can be one of the inhibiting factors for tourists to stay overnight. Impact: Decrease in hotel income: Hotels experienced a decrease in income due to a reduction in the number of guests staying. Reduced employment opportunities: A reduction in hotel activity may result in reduced employment opportunities in the hospitality sector. Efforts that need to be made to increase hotel ROR: Tourism promotion: Increase tourism promotion in West Java to attract more tourists. Improving the quality of hotel services: Improving the quality of hotel services to provide a more enjoyable experience for guests. Offer attractive tour packages: Offer attractive tour packages that combine hotels, transportation and tourist attractions at competitive prices. Adjusting hotel room prices: Adjusting hotel room prices to market conditions and tourists' purchasing power. Increasing hotel ROR is the key to increasing hotel revenues and creating jobs in the hotel sector. Cooperation is needed from various parties, such as the government, hoteliers and the community to achieve optimal TPK targets.
