Abstract

"Imports in August 2024 reached USD 1.20 billion, down 1.19% compared to July 2024. The value of West Java's exports in August 2024 reached USD 3.53 billion, or an increase of 6.12% compared to July 2024. When compared to August 2023, it increased by 2.26%. Non-oil and gas exports in August 2024 reached USD 3.51 billion, up 6.73% compared to July 2024. However, oil and gas exports decreased by 47.55%. Cumulatively, the value of West Java's exports from January to August 2024 reached USD 24.84 billion, or an increase of 1.07% compared to the same period in 2023. Similarly, non-oil and gas exports reached USD 24.62 billion, or an increase of 1.06%. The largest increase in the value of non-oil and gas exports in August 2024 compared to July 2024 occurred in the Machinery and Electrical Equipment category at USD 56.39 million, followed by the Machinery and Mechanical Equipment category at USD 55.53 million and the Knitted Goods category at USD 20.13 million. Cumulatively from January to August 2024, the value of exports by sector increased in the oil and gas sector by 2.77% and the industrial sector by 1.15%. Meanwhile, the agriculture sector and the mining and other sectors decreased by 13.74% and 28.15% compared to the same period the previous year. Non-oil and gas imports in August 2024 reached USD 1.02 billion, down 4.10% compared to July 2024. When compared to August 2023, it increased by 23.81%. Oil and gas imports in August 2024 reached USD 183.20 million, up 18.97% compared to July 2024. While compared to August 2023, it increased by 23.81%. The largest decrease in the value of non-oil and gas imports in August 2024 compared to July 2024 occurred in the Vehicles and Parts category at USD 39.32 million, the Machinery and Knitted Fabrics category at USD 23.51 million, and the Machinery and Electrical Equipment category at USD 18.51 million. The largest supplier of non-oil and gas imports during January-August 2024 was China at USD 2.41 billion (33.26%), followed by Japan at USD 1.17 billion (16.15%), and South Korea at USD 956.72 million (13.18%). The value of imports by the use category of Consumer Goods, Raw Materials/Intermediate Goods, and Capital Goods during August 2024 increased compared to the same month the previous year, by 2.68%, 30.96%, and 1.72%, respectively. The value of West Java's foreign trade balance in August 2024 was a surplus of USD 2.33 billion, thus cumulatively from January to August 2024, the surplus reached USD 16.23 billion."
