Abstract

Human Development Index (IPM). is one approach to measuring the level of success of human development in a country or region. IPM began to be used by the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) since 1990 to measure the main dimensions of human development which are considered to reflect the status of basic capabilities of the population, namely long and healthy life measured through life expectancy, knowledge and skills measured by literacy rates letters and average length of schooling as well as access to necessities to achieve a decent standard of living as measured by purchasing power. It is hoped that this publication can be used as a reference, especially in supporting the 2003 Sumedang Regency Strategic Plan which targets achieving an HDI of 73 in 2008 and 79.6 in 2010.
